The Final Sunny days of fall

What a fabulous October we had, with only a few days of rain the sun shone for almost the entire month - which never happens! We were enjoying temperatures up to the high teens, which totally confused the garden, we are normally mulched, trimmed, and covered in frost by now. so I took the last bouquets out of the field and snapped a few sunny fall shots while we can...

the last flowers of the summer, hydrangeas, mums, cosmos, black eyed susan, dusty miller, niccotina, dahlias and roses.... stunning considering its October!

I always leave these workshops feeling so inspired- a whole bunch of creative people who love photography in one room talking life balance and business and marketing and art… it’s divine. And then add an amazing three course meal with a local chef… it really just does not get much better then that!! I want to invite you to come and be a part of this day with me… to learn and discover… to ask questions and experiment and play.

Here is what past attendees said about the day:

Photography Workshop Cedar View Estate may 2013
It was such an incredible honor to teach last month in Pemberton – 10 amazing creative and beautifully talented women came together to be inspired. A mix of photography- family, wedding, food- styling- and social media… we talked about the intention behind the photograph- we shared visual storytelling- we ate amazing local food as we gathered in a beautiful lodge under mount curry.
I am finding a general theme when I lead workshops like this- for sure it is about the photography- I share the way I take photos- my perspective, light, composition and camera basics- however I am not sure that is what people leave with- I think people leave simply inspired and rested- I think what I do better then teaching photography skills is that I create space that is beautiful and creative- where people can network, share, try new things, rest- get away from the everyday and explore…
I think my ideal workshop would be simply to create space and invite women to partake. To plan a day that is full of food, and wine and creative outlets-
My medium is photography- so that would be included… but it would be much more then that… sound good?! If this is something you would be interested in attending please email me…
I am thinking June…
A huge thank you to the women who came out-

Our big black bear!

at this time of year its normal that the black bears in our community are foraging for food as much as they to stock up for their winter hibernation. This year was probably the best display and closest viewing we've ever had, right outside the dining room window.  the same big black bear coming back - often 3 times a day to finish the crabapples off the tree. each year we try and trim the tree and make as much crabapple jam as we can - but there's sooo many crabapples, these gorgeous bears love them too!

we were a safe 10 foot behind the glass window, but the bear was never discouraged or worried by us. he just kept munching away... day after day after day.

and he's off....

Harvest time

its harvest time at the farm at cedar view

with help from my two young farmers in training ages 8 and 6-
there's lots to do at this time of the year. Not bad for one day....

crabapples - they say 1 crabapple tree is one too many - despite how much we love crabapple jelly - it only took 20 minutes to pick 20llbs of crabapples - and we didn't even make a dent in the trees!

potatoes - like a treasure hunt for the kids each time you pull up a plant they unearth the golden treasures under the soil - and they managed to stay focused for the whole row - amazing!

garlic - hundreds of them - just a fantastic crop this year - smells sooo good!

and 3 hours and 41 jars later - et voila! crabapple jelly - delicious for sandwiches , cheese and crackers or as a side on roast pork. yummy!

still lots and lots of flowers on the farm....
so many - my living room looks like a florist store
I feel compelled to pick them every day, knowing that any day it could be their last.
as soon enough we will get our first frost and snap! they'll all be gone....

Megan and Peter

Whistler Wedding Photos

Megan and Peter

Pemberton Weddings at the Cedar View Estate
Megan and Peter had a great wedding in Pemberton. They were super laid back, and I had a great time with them. I don’t get up to the Pemberton area that often, but I do real enjoy shooting Weddings there. I hope I get to do way more Pemberton weddings in the future.
